Jenks Planetarium hosting Apollo 11 anniversary event
Jenks Planetarium is launching a special Apollo 11 Anniversary Event for the entire family from 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 20. The celebration will take place in the Jenks Planetarium on the third floor of the Dr. Kirby A. Lehman Center for the Study of Math and Science.
View two new exciting shows in the dome including Apollo 11: Man’s First Step on the Moon, created for this event by Jenks staff and students. Solar Superstorms will also be featured, a new production that takes viewers into the tangle of magnetic fields and superhot plasma that result in dramatic flares and violent solar tornadoes.
Plus, enjoy special activities in the Math and Science Building including looking through solar telescopes on the roof, enjoying robotics demonstrations, and more. Light refreshments are also included.
“The students of Jenks High School and Jenks Community Education have put together a wonderful show that gives proper recognition to this monumental Apollo 11 event,” said Jenks Planetarium Director Dan Zielinski, “We hope this will be a spark to young and old alike to think beyond our own world and realize the knowledge that can be gained by studying others.”
Tickets for this family event are available online for $12 at www.jenkscommunityed.com or you can call 918-298-0340.
